Der Künstler Ferhat Ayne lud Menschen mit sogenanntem „Migrationshintergrund“ ein, sich auf ein ganz besonderes Portrait einzulassen: Er bat seine Modelle, sich in der Kleidung ihrer Eltern inmitten der Natur abbilden zu lassen. Die in dieser Ausstellung erstmalig gezeigten Fotografien spielen auf den Sehnsuchtsort „Natur“ der deutschen Romantik an. Darüber hinaus wird durch die Inszenierung die Verortungsfrage einer ganzen Generation gestellt, die heute eine führende Rolle im kulturellen und politischen Leben Deutschlands spielt. Die Dargestellten übernehmen durch die unpassende Kleidung die Identität ihrer Eltern und erscheinen verloren im deutschen Wald. Hierdurch entwickeln die Arbeiten von Ferhat Ayne eine ausdrucksstarke Bildsprache von Heimats- und Identitätssuche.
The artist Ferhat Ayne invited people of a so-called “migrant background” to a special portrait shooting: He asked his models to wear their parents’ clothes while having their pictures taken in a nature setting. These photographs, being on display in this exhibition for the first time, refer to “nature” as a place of longing in the period of German Romanticism. Furthermore, the presentation raises the question of belonging with regard to an entire generation that today plays a major role in the cultural and political life of Germany. Via the unfitting clothes, the presented models don the identity of their parents and appear lost in the German forest. This way, Ferhat Ayne’s work develops a strong visual expression of the search of home and identity.
